DMR-Repeater Launched in Sylva!

Updated: Jul 8, 2019

With the Support of the NC-PRN Team (Danny Hampton, K4ITL & Scott Whittaker, KF4DBW) & Chuck deCourt, W3WZN- NC-PRN has come to the WNC Area! The repeater operates on 442.975 - CC1, and has the ability to be converted to an analog system should the network remain in tact and the need arise. The repeater will offer localized coverage, but provide the ability for the State EOC to contact the Jackson County EOC, should an emergency arise where the repeater network is still in tact. This system also allows operators to utilize the PRN-Chat channels to talk across the network without the need to continuously raise all system transmitters during the QSO. The repeater was launched today (11/28/2018) around 5pm and has been tested around the Sylva area, and received a boost of power around 7pm. The Talkgroups supported are standardized to the PRN codeplug, with the exception of TAC311. TAC311 was added with consideration for those wishing to talk between PRN and WNC networks. This will allow a talk-off channel which will also not require the transmitters across the state to be tied up.
