It is with great regret that I let you all know that the Franklin/Cowee NC-PRN repeater will soon be changing frequency. In error, the SERA Coordination record was over-written for the 444.200 pair, and another operator was able coordinate this pair at close range to our site before the issue was discovered and could be rectified.
A new pair of 444.825 has been identified, and I have begun the process of coordinating equipment to be re-tuned and re-programmed. Please stay tuned to this blog for more details, as I work to identify and announce a cut-over date.
I will have a table at the Waynesville HAMFest in July, and will make time for anyone who needs help with updating their frequency information and has not done so by that time. If you have non-Motorola equipment and need assistance, please bring a laptop and programming cable with your software installed. There may be an opportunity for me to download your software for non-commercial radios, but with so many variables, I hope to work through a verified working package to save us all time.
While I aim to keep these systems on the air and in operation without much change, unfortunately at times it is not an option. I appreciate your understanding, and look forward to hearing everyone on the new pair!
